About the position:

Sinergia Animal is seeking a global research and investigations director. This is an exciting position for a person with a solid background in investigative journalism and/or in-depth research. We’re looking for an experienced professional to lead research efforts in six different countries, map opportunities, and build detailed plans for our undercover investigations. 

This person will be responsible for guiding our teams in various research projects, such as preparing academic papers to support our campaigns, finding the largest food companies in key countries and their key contacts, and helping national teams coordinate research with academic institutions. 

The role will conduct and lead research projects in animal rights, factory farms, fisheries, environmental and social issues, and consumer behavior. It is well suited to someone looking to apply their skills and experience with a dedicated team, where investigations are utilized in creative and impactful campaigns.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out in-depth research according to campaign needs

  • Help and train national teams to carry out in-depth research

  • Map opportunities and conduct desk research to build detailed plans for undercover investigations

  • Recruit and liaise with experienced freelance journalists, fixers, and investigators

  • Hire and manage lawyers working on security and legal procedures for investigative work

  • Write, proofread and approve investigation reports, press releases, and videos

  • Guide teams in the dissemination of relevant research and help develop impactful campaigns with research findings

  • Help organize trips and conduct training for investigative work

  • Build alliances with other international and/or grassroots NGOs

 

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish is a plus

  • Proven track record using a variety of investigative tools to pursue complex investigations in the public interest and communicating complex concepts to a wide audience

  • Desirable: previous experience in planning, contracting freelancers and carrying out undercover investigations

  • Excellent ability to lead teams in a kind and constructive manner

  • Can-do attitude

  • Excellent multitasking and time-management skills

  • Excellent oral communication, writing, and proofreading skills

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in close coordination with a remote team

About the position:

Are you a digital marketing professional who is passionate about creating a better world for animals? If so, this may be a great opportunity for you. Sinergia Animal is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager who knows a lot about web advertising, social media and newsletters. This person will be responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies to support the engagement and growth of our campaigns and social media audiences. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with Communications, Campaigns and Food Policy Directors to identify marketing goals

  • Identifying and suggesting new marketing strategies for campaigns and presence on social media

  • Planning and implementing digital marketing strategies such as social media ads and newsletters

  • Analyzing and reporting results from our websites’ analytics, social media channels and newsletters

  • In-depth knowledge of SEO, Facebook Business and AdWords programs

 

Technical requirements:

  • Fluency in English

  • Ability to work with platforms such as Google Drive and Monday.com

  • Notions of design appreciated

  • Deep understanding of a wide range of field practices, concepts, and procedures of web advertising, social media and newsletters (both the tools and the writing stills for each one of these platforms)

  • Proven experience in delivering effective and innovative digital campaigns at a fast-paced organization

  • Solid understanding of web metrics, digital analytics and data

  • Must be able to work within deadlines and manage multiple projects across multiple campaigns and countries

  • Strong time management skills; excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Previous experience with NGOs is desirable.

National Food Policy Manager / Indonesia

About the position:

Sinergia Animal is seeking a  Food Policy Manager to start and oversee a program to reduce consumption of animal products in major public and private institutions in Indonesia. This person will be responsible for networking with decision makers, creating, and implementing concrete plans to help institutions to adopt, at least, one plant-based eating day per week in their restaurants.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a database of institutions’ profiles and key decision makers in city halls, schools, universities and other major institutions.

  • Establish and keep contact with key institutional contacts via emails, phone calls, and meetings with the goal of persuading institutions to adopt a meat reduction program in their restaurants.

  • Give lectures to the institutions interested in implementing the program.

  • Together with the international teams, build a strategic plan with short- and long-term goals. 

  • Coordinate and work with chefs, dietitians, nutritionists and physicians to implement the program in the institutions.

  • Work with the social manager specialist to produce content for social media. 

  • Carry out research according to program needs, mainly the environmental and human health benefits of implementing a meat reduction program.

  • Produce monthly reports about progress and actions needed for improvement.

  • Represent Sinergia Animal and its programs at public events, conferences, media events and with the NGOs and animal protection communities at large. Response to media requests together with the international team (e.g., draft op-ed pieces and press releases, give media interviews, maintain relationships with editorial boards and local media).

  • Build alliances with other international and/or grassroots NGOs and NGO coalitions.

  • Network and develop relationships with high level Indonesian government officials (e.g., Ministers of Health, Environment), intergovernmental organizations and multinational corporations.

 

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Bahasa and English. 

  • Desirable: key contacts with major stakeholders in Indonesia and previous experience in corporate engagement with major food companies and institutions.

  • Excellent ability to lead negotiations  in a kind and constructive manner.
